In addition to the weeks of heavy rainfall we’ve been having, a tropical storm dubbed Bill just made it rain in the our region. What a gentleman’s name for a storm – am I right?
Bill mostly missed Shreveport this week but unfortunately we’ll still feel the effects from flash flooding and drainage from northeast Texas and central Oklahoma filling the Red River. The Mighty Red as some locals call it, is the river that runs through downtown Shreveport and separates us from our sister city, Bossier City.
The Times (my employer) has been doing a great job of flood coverage. #workbrag It is a really unique experience working for a local media outlet during a disaster and if I didn’t work for the local paper, I probably wouldn’t understand the severity of the storm because the area of town that we live and I work in is unaffected. Clayton’s job site on the other-hand is not. While we were in Alaska, his coworkers sent photos of them rowing up to the work trailer and then exploring the damage while wading through hip-deep water. This weather channel video shows his job site under water right at the beginning.
