This past week was the Louisiana Craft Brewers Week – celebrating the homegrown brewers and small-batch deliciousness that they think up. We have three craft breweries in Shreveport (Great Raft, Flying Heart and Red River) but only two with tasting rooms. We kicked off the week with the Bikes, Brews and Brunch on Sunday and closed out the celebrations with the launch of a new beer at Great Raft, Born in a Barn IV.
I’ve realized that my social calendar is planned around dog-friendly events and lucky for Tex and I, there were a few weekend. We spent all day Saturday at the Highland Jazz and Blues Festival. What started in 2003 with a couple bands and about 500 attendees, has grown to a full afternoon of ten jazz and blues bands on two stages, craft and food vendors and over 10,000 festival attendees.
We lounged all afternoon on a blanket, drinking beer (for me, not him) and listening to live music. Best part: all the other furry friends in attendance.
