Well the bad news is that it’s been two months since my last blog post. The good news is that we’ve been busy traveling and hosting family and friends, spending time with the ones we love. So in an effort to provide an update on life in Shreveport, I’ll start with a post about my first Galentine’s Day brunch.
After seeing heart-themed straws at Walmart in January, I promptly texted Sabrina that we should have a Galentine’s Day party. Never one to shy away from a celebration, she immediately agreed and offered to host. Too many Pinterest-hours later, I had decided on what I wanted to make — two simple and sweet brunch recipes: donut/berry kabobs and chocolate mousse cups with berries.
The chocolate mousse recipe that I found is delicious and best of all: you can make it the night before and then layer your cups the morning of. For an added flair, I garnished each cup with a donut hole. Super healthy.
Sabrina, party-planner extraordinaire, set up a custom photo booth in her kitchen. We saw this as an opportunity to finally break out the Knecht Costume Box (thanks Mom for mailing that!) After busting out the flower crowns and spiking the sangria with Everclear (big mistake, Sabrina) we had a backyard photo shoot and I was in bed by 8:00 pm. All in all, I’d call it a successful first Galentine’s Day.
