It’s been about two months since my last post – so this one will be jam packed with two months of updates from life around here. In April, I went to Chicago for the first time for a work conference… and lucky for me, Sabrina was going to the same conference (actually, she’s the one who told me about it) and lucky for us, Kendra was going to meet us there for a few days.
The three of us met in the Windy City on Friday night and packed in as many touristy activities as possible before the conference started on Sunday afternoon. From rooftop bars and “The Bean” to the Cubs and Wrigleyville, we did it all. Well, everything except the Chicago “food bucket list,” i.e. deep dish pizza and Chicago dogs – mostly because Sabrina is allergic to dairy and gluten and I don’t like hot dogs. Shay: if you’re reading this, I’m sorry.
The opening reception for our work conference was held at Soldier Field and we were given a behind the scenes “tour” of solely the locker room.
It’s been a dream of mine to see a Blackhawks game in Chicago and after making Sabrina Uber to four different bars so I could find the local, rowdy dive bar I was looking for we caught the game at Stanley’s. Next time: The MadHouse.
Shortly after getting back to reality in Shreveport, our girl Jess, who works in radio treated us to a girls night out at Carrie Underwood. She. Is. Amazing. (Both Jess and Carrie, I mean.)
And finally we rang in my birthday with an night I’ll never forget. Sabrina and Clayton planned quite the surprise-filled evening – starting with a ride to dinner in our friends refurbished limo, painted to look like a B-52 (the aircraft that Sabrina’s husband, Lance and most of our other friends here fly in the military).
