Inspired by a magical concoction I first sampled on the patio of our favorite wood-fire pizza spot, the Fern Avenue Fizz is a refreshing blend of basil, cucumber and lime. The restaurant is located less than a mile from our house (yes, on Fern Avenue) and the proximity is both a blessing and a curse. To avoid spending my entire paycheck on misc. bar tabs, I decided that I should learn the art of mixology. So, stay tuned as these boozy experiments play out via my new Food and Drink tag.
Fern Avenue Fizz
Ingredients – for one cocktail
- 4 slices of cucumber
- 2 lime wedges
- 5 basil leaves
- 1/2 oz. of Simple Syrup
- 2 oz. of basil vodka
- Splash of Club Soda
- Combine cucumber, lime and basil leaves in shaker. Muddle.
- Add Simple Syrup and vodka. Shake.
- Strain over ice in glass. Top with club soda.
