My sister lives in our hometown of Anchorage, Alaska and is getting married in Maui this fall. Living 4,000 miles away in Shreveport, Louisiana has proved to be a bit of a challenge for my M.O.H. duties. Alas, after complaining to my parents about how bummed I was to be missing all of the pre-wedding festivities, my dad threw a couple air miles my way so I could fly up and surprise the bride-to-be.
For her bridal shower, we gathered 30 of our closest family and friends for an intimate dinner party at South Restaurant. The venue already had dreamy interior design with rustic farm tables and big windows offering a ton of natural light. I knew that I wanted the decor to be tropical (nod to her future Hawaiian nuptials) with some pink accents (a color she
loved was obsessed with as a child).
Shortly after planning this party, I decided my dream job is to design tablescapes. On a gold, glittery table runner we combined pineapples, hula girls and flowers – displayed in wine bottles (her preferred drink of choice is red wine). All of the ladies rocked leis, Rach donned a flower crown and we spent the evening offering our best relationship advice and showering the future bride with some major love and laughter.
