As much as I dream about it while sitting on the couch in my sweatpants, eating Ben and Jerry’s, hunched over and scrolling through Instagram … I could never be a fashion blogger. Every time I see one of my favorite fashionistas casually donning a full gown in the middle of stopped rush hour traffic or toting a large bouquet of flowers while balancing on 6″ heels and laughing at the non-existent person out of frame, I think to myself, “I could do that! I can hold those flowers and pose in front of that taxi! I like to laugh!”
Then it dawns on me that I have no one to take my photos. And the likelihood that I would ever feel comfortable enough to pose for pictures in a full gown while cars rush past is slim to none. And perhaps the biggest hurdle of all – it’s a miracle if I actually do my hair, let alone two days in a row. Plus, I’m a big fan of the Matila Kahl’s approach to the Work Uniform.
Alas, I live vicariously through my favorite bloggers. Fashion, travel and lifestyle. They inspire me creatively and push me to work on my photography, personal style and voice. I like them so much, I think you should know about them too. I am going to highlight one of my faves each week through a Woman Crush Wednesday tag and hopefully you’ll find a new favorite blogger to follow (besides me, of course).
First up: Sheryl Luke of Walk In Wonderland. I’ll be honest I mostly follow her via Instagram but I love her signature aviator shades and casual, but girly style. Plus, I love the story behind her clever blog name:
My dream was to have the biggest walk in closet of all time where I would feel Alice wandering in Wonderland. I love exploring all styles, but I’m mostly in edgy, chic outfits and every now and then, I like to dress preppy, glamourous or grungy. I live in the moment and that is reflected in my style.
She knows when to mix in a bold print or bright color and her jeans collection alone makes me want to trade closets with her. A few of my favorite looks are below.
