A recap of life lately as told by snapshots from my iPhone | 8/15 – 8/31
A revamped blog and soon-to-be card shop call for a new and improved workspace. After a quick trip to Dallas and long Ikea assembly, my new desk is proving to be the best purchase I’ve made in a long time. Despite what it looks like, Tex was no help. Thank goodness for Clayton.
A couple weeks ago I hosted an event that I am beyond proud to have organized: SBC Untapped: Networking with a Purpose. It’s a new monthly social geared towards connecting business professionals with local organizations making a positive impact in our community. It was a torrential downpour outside but inside – nothing but good vibes.
In addition to starting my Etsy shop, my second New Years resolution was to take up golf. It may have taken half the year but I am proud to say I am making strides on both (that’s a first). I am quickly learning that golf is a game where the more you know, the less you know so for now I am focusing on not losing any balls and having fun which is harder than it sounds. Alas, Clayton treats me to tacos at our favorite spot after and that alone is worth it.
Every Saturday during the month of August, a boutique hotel in downtown Shreveport held a MIX event and Lauren and I attended three of the four. In addition to sampling four creative cocktails each time, we learned about styling bar carts, unique garnishes and infusing liquors. Some call it girls’ night out, I call it “blog research”.
I need to have a party. I went to Michael’s to buy stuff for my sister’s upcoming bridal shower and came out with these cute candle holders ($0.50 in the Clearance bin, WHO could say no?) I also found this cake stand at World Market for only $10 – get yours here. So again, I need to have a party so I can put my new purchases to good use.
My friend Erin convinced me to attend a Strong Pose yoga class with her and I am really glad she did. Each class is geared towards one specific yoga pose and the exercises (combo of yoga and kettle balls) are designed to strengthen your body so that eventually you can hold the pose for (at least) one minute. The class gently reminded me how out of shape I am and inspired me to get back on the workout train. After all, only a few weeks until Hawaii. Eeek.
