Growing up, my mom was the queen of holiday decor. She completely transformed our home to reflect every season and holiday. My favorite was always Halloween and despite the fact that it felt like winter outside, once you walked in the door the ambiance shifted to a spooky autumn night. That combined with my dad’s birthday falling the day before Hallow’s Eve resulted in some pretty incredible memories – especially as us kids have grown and extended the celebrations to include our friends.
Living in Shreveport has allowed Clayton and I to start our own traditions but if there is one thing I’ve learned, it’s that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. It simply doesn’t feel like a holiday unless our home reflects the occasion. Like my mom, I plan to grow my collection of holiday decor over the years but this year I was able add subtle touches throughout our apartment. My personal favorite: the outdoor spaces (front door and patio).
Pro tip: get a basic wreath, like this Wispy Grapevine Wreath from Michael’s, and update it for each season. I have kept this wreath for over a year and used different flowers and garland to reflect the time of year. Simply pick your flowers, arrange and attach with paddle wire, like you’ll find in this kit. After all, storage is tight when you’re living in an apartment so the more you can re-use decor across multiple seasons, the better.
