A recap of life lately as told by snapshots from my iPhone | 12/1 – 12/15
We’re gearing up for Christmas and preparing to travel for the holidays again – this year: San Francisco. We’ll be back in Shreveport for NYE but it’ll be fun to get out for a bit to see some family and explore the city. If you have any suggestions for places to check out or dine at, I’m all ears.
My parents visited Shreveport for the first time this month, just in time for the Shreveport-Bossier 40 Under 40 awards. In addition to our glam night out, we sampled a little food from all our favorite spots and made sure they tried true Cajun grub (which they loved!). We also had to get a little creative to work around the constant rain (surprise, surprise) and tried an Escape Room. For anyone who hasn’t tried this experience before, I would highly recommend it. So fun.
The weekend after 40 Under 40 was Christmas in the Sky. A fundraiser for the Shreveport Regional Arts Council that is so huge they only host it every other year. My friend, Sabrina, and I volunteered as auction display chairs and had no idea what we were in for. Turns out the entire event is a silent auction and we had to organize and set-up over 750 items. All in all, it was an incredible experience and the party was a nice way to cap off our efforts. Check out this vid for more.
My friend, Tricia, is the event manager for a local boutique hotel that hosts some pretty incredible events – actually, they hosted the weekly mixology events that Lauren and I were regulars at this summer. When she heard about my SMP shop, she asked if I would create a custom sign for their Christmas party. Needless to say, I am pretty pumped about my first client and best of all, I got to see it in action at the event.
Creating the sign for The Remington’s holiday party gave me the idea that other people might want custom work, too. So I decided to dabble in custom signage for friends and family, my first project was a pair of quote frames for the Day family. I can’t wait to see where they end up! More to come on the shop – if you’re interested in a specific project, drop me a line. XO
